Yes, you can get a job with this degree

I know that you can get a job because I have one! Expect more postings on refugee issues as I will be working with a refugee resettlement agency. I am extremely excited, as I never imagined that I would find a position that used my knowledge of the Middle East (or any other region of the world aside from East Asia, for that matter) on the West Coast. As far as refugees are concerned, there should be more arriving from Burma and Burundi, while the Iraqi refugees are still waiting for clearance, as far as I know.

Hi Courtney!
Congratulations on your new job! I'll be eager to hear more about it, but it sounds really interesting.
I've also noted the dismal U.S. response to the Iraqi refugee crisis, and even though letting 7,000 refugees is a start, it's far from enough considering that we caused this war to begin with. As you noted too, Sweden has been exceptionally good about accepting Iraqi asylum seekers, but it's starting to get to the point over there where social services are strained in some places and it's hard for small communities to absorb the continuous stream of refugees, so it's time for more countries to step up to the plate.
Anyway, just thought I'd say hi and let you know that I try to check your blog every now and then.

Hey Courtney! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I've been drowning in school, but that will all be at an end soon enough. I leave for Jordan in 5 days, and I'm staying for 5 months (eeeEEEKKK!!!!) If you are in the region, send me an email and we'll meet for shisha. Congrats on your new job! Sounds like you are going to be doing some seriously good work. Please stay in touch. As soon as I know my phone number, I'll send it to you!

Beth
